BARCELONA, Spain, December 4th, 2025 – Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe and Valent BioSciences announced this week the commercial launch of a comprehensive new biostimulant portfolio for EMEA growers. The announcement coincides with the companies’ participation in the Biostimulant World Congress in Barcelona, underscoring their shared commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture through science-based innovation.
“Through this launch, we are expanding our ability to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to customers across EMEA,” said Alberto Ancora, General Manager of Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe. “By combining Sumitomo Chemical’s regional market expertise with Valent BioSciences’ advanced biological technologies, we are bringing a powerful suite of products that address growers’ most pressing challenges in productivity, quality, and resource efficiency.”
Three Core Technology Platforms
The new portfolio integrates three proprietary biostimulant platforms from Valent BioSciences: Powered by MCOM® (Mineral Complexed Organic Matter (MCOM)), S-abscisic acid (S-ABA), and MycoApply® arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). Each platform delivers unique agronomic benefits that support plant vigor, nutrient efficiency, and stress tolerance.
MCOM Technology: Optimizing Nutrient Uptake and Stress Tolerance to unlock full crop potential.
MCOM technology improves the availability and mobility of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium while supporting photosynthetic efficiency and improved performance under abiotic stress. Plants’ response to MCOM technology ensures success at critical physiological moments during the crop cycle in a wide variety of crops.
Key MCOM-based products include:
- BoronBoost™ Prime – Enhances crop yield and quality by improving boron nutrition and carbohydrate mobility on developmental milestones such as flowering. Specially recommended for stone fruit, nuts, olive tree, citrus, vines and vegetables.
- Zicron® – Supports early-season growth, leaf development, and fruit or nut set, while enhancing photosynthetic capacity, and helping crops mitigate abiotic stress.
- TransTec® Duo (coming soon) – A liquid highly and concentrated biostimulant that enhances nutrient use efficiency and photosynthetic activity to improve plant performance in a wide variety of crops. Its MCOM content and state-of-art formulation gives TransTec® Duo the capability to ensure crops reach their full potential under challenging and variable growing conditions.
- SuperSede™ (coming soon) – A seed treatment combining targeted nutrients with Powered by MCOM technology to maximize genetic potential and drive faster, more uniform germination in major crops.
S-Abscisic Acid (S-ABA): Enhancing Grain Fill
S-ABA is a naturally occurring compound that influences carbohydrate flow within the plant, improving grain filling rates and grain size while supporting sugar accumulation and post-harvest quality in fruit and vegetable crops.
Two S-ABA-based products are being introduced:
- TopGrain® / FullGrain® – Designed to improve grain quality and yield consistency by promoting carbohydrate flow to storage tissues and ensuring robust grain development.
- InGrain® – Brings carbohydrates to the plant’s natural storage organs, driving higher yields and improved quality.
MycoApply®: Advancing Root Health and Soil Productivity
The MycoApply® line of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) biostimulants supports plant productivity and long-term soil health by forming root acquisition networks and stable soil aggregates. MycoApply® products optimize nutrient and water efficiency while contributing to soil structure and carbon sequestration.
- MycoApply® DR – A dry formulation ideal for broadcast, drip, or drench applications in vegetables, trees, and vines.
- MycoApply® EndoPrime® SC – A liquid formulation optimized for broad-acre crops such as corn, wheat, and oilseed rape.
“Each product in the portfolio is backed by years of scientific research and field validation,” said Matteo Sclocchi, Vice President of Global Marketing for Valent BioSciences. “By integrating these biostimulants into crop management programs, we are enabling EMEA growers to achieve stronger, more resilient crops in a sustainable and measurable way.”
Advancing Sustainable Agriculture in Europe
Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe and Valent BioSciences share a commitment to delivering innovation through science and sustainability. Their joint participation at the Biostimulant World Congress highlights this shared mission to deliver practical, proven biological solutions that strengthen agriculture today while building long-term environmental resilience.
