Philagro France is a key affiliate of Sumitomo Chemical Company in Europe and successfully operating in the French Market since several years. Philagro France provides innovative solution to their customers in both segments, conventional and biorational. French market represents a strategic market for Sumitomo Chemical and is the biggest market in EU, therefore Sumitomo Chemical will continue to invest in innovation and market presence. As part of the Company strategy and to capture ongoing market trends, we are shifting our focus from conventional to biorational. The current regulatory framework in France suggests accelerating the transformation. We see the potential to transform Philagro France into a leading biorational company, leveraging on our innovation, commitment and reputation. The recent integration of Philagro France in SCAE has no business impact and confirms the commitment of Sumitomo Chemical to the French market.

 We are looking for a Sales Director M/F

Main mission:

Define Philagro France's commercial offer with a strategic approach identified by market in order to build a lasting relationship with French distribution and promote the development of our innovations in France, and thus deliver the sales results expected by the group. He works closely with and shares certain missions with the market managers and has his own functions of negotiation and team leadership.

Job description:

Reporting to the EMEA Commercial Director, within the France Sales team, your main missions will be:

Define the company's business strategy:

Participate in the development of the company's strategic plan, in particular at the level of distribution policy and commercial policy. Ensure the solidity of customer relationships, in respect of internal compliance rules and reciprocal commitments. Deploy the sales and marketing actions decided at the national and regional level with distributors, prescribers and target users, in two market segments:
  • The market for conventional products and biocontrol
  • The market for biostimulant products
Ensure regular updated files and reports regarding commercial activities to be presented to the management committee.

Management of sales teams

Ensure the smooth running of the commercial team, the marketing team and customer service. Participation in annual meetings for the preparation of commercial campaigns with the entire France sales team and dedicated France marketing managers. Regular interactions with employees from the marketing, legal, customer service and sales department France, based at the head office.

Profile and skills required:

Experience: Minimum 10 years' experience in B-to-B sales in the plant protection sector.

Technical skills:

  • Commercial skills and customer orientation in plant protection sector
  • Experience in biorational business and understanding of key success factors to lead successfully the transformation
  • Inspiring business leader able to engage employees, stakeholders and customers during the journey.
  • Budget management
  • Communication skills and ability to work in a mainly commercial team
  • Fluent in oral and written English for internal exchanges (mandatory)
