Director for portfolio Department

Mission:

 Drive its department for achieving the EMEA Performance Operating Profit target, for ensuring a sustainable short, medium and long-term business development whilst improving the effectiveness, efficiency & performance of Sumitomo Chemical. Develop business strategies through discussion and alignment with relevant stakeholders, and execute the strategies, in collaboration with relevant persons, teams and parties. Manage product development works and analyses, so that the company has efficient and accurate development works. In parallel, gathering latest technologies and market trend, which should be reported to global research teams. Develop strategical pricing strategies for its portfolio and take lead product strategies in annual budgeting cycle. Implement operational marketing activities, which includes market communications, launch preparation and any day-to-day marketing activities in short term strategies.

Main Accountabilities:

European EMEA Marketing Strategy

Ensure a sustainable business for the EMEA region, by:
  • Maintaining the EMEA strategy aligned with the market environment
  • Defining the direction for achieving the EMEA targets : financial and marketing targets
  • Ensuring the consistency of the strategy and of the department’s tactics
Guide all the involved departments to follow the marketing strategy by:
  • Providing clear communication to all the involved department concerning products, crops, customers and strategies
  • Driving market analysis, opportunities, and strategic alliances to support the commercial development: new challenges, innovating project
  • Communicating and discussing with global teams of Sumitomo Chemical and align R&D and marketing strategy for long term strategies
  • Deciding of correctives actions regarding to sales and financials results
  • Creating the necessary network between all the internal stakeholders to share marketing ideas, concept, and opinions

European Portfolio Management

Ensure portfolio sustainability despite political and regulatory hurdles, by:
  • Driving the respect of the quality for the registration dossiers
  • Driving the planification of the field program for the trials in the respect of the budget and the projects for the EMEA region
  • Ensuring that technical products performance respect the trial programs
  • Ensuring the transfer of know-how to all involved departments
  • Defining portfolio strategy over EMEA, in coordination with Regulatory, Industry and Sales
  • Preparing long term innovations coming from R&D to be launched in the market
  • Supporting and ensuring process is in alignment with the strategy, growth and profitability goals

Marketing Community Management

Ensure strong collaborations of Marketing teams across EMEA, as well as with global support functions: innovation, R&D, finance, supply chain, communication, legal, procurement, by:
  • Defining the optimum marketing organization in EMEA
  • Preparing yearly qualitative and quantitative Marketing targets & KPIs for countries
  • Organizing Marketing team building events and collaboration tools & process
  • Establishing and maintaining a collaborative relationship with Country and global support function Heads

Leadership

Lead, manage and develop the EMEA marketing and development team by:
  • Providing clear objectives, timelines and ways of working
  • Setting priorities according to the deadline and targets
  • Managing annual appraisal of team members
  • Identifying strengths and development areas to be addressed and nurtured
  • Meeting with customers and product users to identify market trend and opportunities
  • Following up on performance and providing feedback for improvement and recognition
  • Develop a corporate culture, and implement a positive and proactive spirit
Take part in the management activities, by:
  • Demonstrating and upholding our core values
  • Communicating company directives
  • Attending the Management Committee and representing the company at official bodies, trade association or international institutional level

Education (Optional)

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture, Sales or Marketing

Experience

  • 10 years Marketing, Development and/or Sales of PPP in EU, which includes Global or European level experiences, and minimum multiple countries in EMEA

  • Localisation: St Didier au Mont d’Or (near Lyon); but to be negociated
  • Driving Licence required
